I made my January goal and then some. Yay! I finished nine books, the last two being Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffeneger and Kokoro by Natsume Soseki. Both were good, though I don’t know that I would read them again.

Jo Walton’s Among Others is in progress. It’s a booky-book written in diary form, involves the sorts of books I grew up reading, and it has faeries in it. All elements I can hardly resist.

I gave up on The Book of Air and Shadows. There were just too many pointless details in the first several chapters, and while I normally don’t mind the little things, they didn’t feel like they were adding to the story at all. It felt like the author had forgotten the basic premise of “show, don’t tell”. So it went into the ‘for the used bookstore pile’.

I’ve hardly read in the past couple of days due to an ongoing issue with insomnia. It’s hard to be excited about anything when you’re so tired that you’re running into things and forgetting what you’re doing while you’re doing it.
