Headed North

July is generally rather hot around here, so to escape the heat before the Dog Days set in, I am heading North. Figuratively. There is Tolkien abound on my list, along with Neil Gaiman’s newest- The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and a jaunt through Mongolia as I finish up the Mongoliad trilogy. The plan thus far is to re-read the Poetic and Prose Eddas, and I might attempt The Kalevala. We’ll see how that turns out.

Here’s what the list looks like:

  1. Neal Stephenson, Greg Bear, et. al.- The Mongoliad, Book 3
  2. Neil Gaiman- The Ocean at the End of the Lane
  3. J.R.R. Tolkien– The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun
  4. J.R.R. Tolkien- The Fall of Arthur
  5. J.R.R. Tolkien- The Book of Lost Tales, pt. 1
  6. Poetic Eddas
  7. Snorri Sturluson- Prose Eddas
