In my last Sunday Sum-Up, I mentioned that Andy Serkis is narrating a new The Lord of the Rings audiobook. Because I’d only heard mentionings of it over the summer, I thought that it would be released sometime next year.
Readers, I was wrong. Wonderfully wrong.
The new The Lord of the Rings audiobook comes out in North America on September 16, and will be available on just about every audiobook platform, so you don’t have to have an Audible account to listen. If you have access to OverDrive, Libby, or Hoopla via your local library, see if they’ll have it available for you to listen to for free. Otherwise, you can buy all three books via GooglePlay, Audible, iTunes, Audiobook.com, or wherever else you get your audiobooks.
It will be available via HarperCollins in the rest of the world.
If you’d like to listen to Serkis narrating a key passage starring Gollum and Sméagol, click the link below, which will take you the preview.
How excited are you!!
I am all the excited!
💗💗💗
I don’t know why I didn’t quite connect that Serkis narrating the book meant he would be doing his Gollum voice, and I am feeling so many emotions right now. Is this how I become an audiobook person?!
This may be how you become an audiobook person, indeed
Well, I’m happy for this. I didn’t like the other ones I’ve tried, so I’ll check if my library plans to get it.
I finally remembered to check to see if my library has Serkis’s narration of The Hobbit. They do, but the wait time is about 14 weeks. *sighs*
Aww, at least your library has it. I just recommended them all to my library.
I hope they decide to get all of them!
Great to hear. It’s a welcome addition to the LotR library! 🙂
