Spring is Springing

I know flowers have been blooming and trees have been budding all over the US, but around here it’s still quite brown except for a few flower patches, a couple of trees, and bits of grass. After positively wintry temperatures last week, we’re expecting summery temperatures this week, so I’m sure we’ll be seeing more green and colorful things appearing around town.

  1. It’s always nice to see some of the first bits of growth and color of the year, whether in town or on the trail. Thanks for sharing these. I hope you get many more opportunities to view and photograph as the seasons continue shifting.
By the way, as a side note I really like that opening photo on your blog. Is that a local used bookstore? Looks like a very comfortable sort of location.

  2. Thank you! It’s always so nice to see color start appearing again after the brown of winter. The first flowers are in full bloom right now, though we have very smoky air right now due to controlled burns in Kansas. Hopefully that will clear up soon.

The bookstore is a used bookstore, yes, but it’s in Reykjavík. It’s a little shop called Bókin, and the entire shop is like this- stuffed to the gills with books of all kinds. I found it by accident and fell in love immediately.

  3. Hopefully you get to see more blooms as the weather gets warmer. I visited a gorgeous garden today in DC and it was such a treat to see the bright, brilliant blooms of the flowers. It was very relaxing too.

  4. We had a positively summery few days last week, so the trees and flowers are blooming like crazy. It was cold today and will be again tomorrow, so I think some of the flowers might die or wilt, but it’s nice to see the leaves appearing on the trees.
